DAVE RHODES

dave-rhodes.jpg

Dave is an award-winning engineer and producer based in Whitianga on the Coromandel Peninsula, where he owns a purpose-built boutique recording studio. His love for music production was sparked by a recording session of his Dad's band (Hamilton County Bluegrass Band) when he was 12 years old. An SAE graduate, Dave had early success with the debut Blindspott album for which he won Engineer of the Year 2002, with the album recently certified 3 x Platinum in New Zealand.

With over 25 years of experience in producing, mixing and recording, Dave is passionate about working with both established and emerging bands. He balances his easy-going, friendly nature with his technical expertise to cultivate creative environments that inspire epic performances.

Dave has recently produced and mixed high-rotate rock tracks from Sam Bartells, Beckoned, Head Like A Hole, Bleeders (for Waiata Anthems), and the latest Devilskin single. He is currently in his second year as a Creatives in Schools mentor, is a key sponsor and judge for the Ding Dong Lounge Band Competition, regularly travels around Aotearoa New Zealand to record bands and is always up for a kōrero about music production!
